Fun, Fun, Fun!

It has been a while since my last post, but we've been keeping plenty busy. Unfortunately, I've come down with a pretty nasty cold, and have realized that caring for a little one when you don't feel well is no easy feat. Thankfully, Tom has been awesome and totally taken over when he gets home from work. I really hope that he and Jack don't get this stinkin' bug....

new toy 003 Last week we got to have dinner at Tom's parents with his Aunt Brenda and Uncle Joe. They haven't seen Jack since he was really little, so it was fun to show off all of his new skills. What would a trip to Grandma's house be without a new toy?  Jack loves to be pushed around on the truck. He has figured out how to honk the horn and does so as he is wheeled around the house. It also has a handle in the back so that he can practice his walking skills.

Speaking of walking, we've seen a decline in interest in walking this past week. This is probably due to Jack mastering the art of crawling. He still occasionally uses his army crawl, but now he mostly crawls on his hands and knees around the house. He's getting remarkably quick, so I'm sure he doesn't want to waste time taking baby steps to get somewhere when he could crawl there in an instant.

new toy 004 Because he is now crawling everywhere, Jack is learning the word "no". He definitely understands the meaning of it, but that doesn't in any way mean that he obeys it. The latest "no" items in our house are the automatic garbage can, which open with a sensor (I mean come on, if you were a little guy, wouldn't you want to open the magic can?) and the TV cabinet which boasts the radio that has really big knobs that are fun to turn.

He has also learned how to push buttons. His favorite button to push is the one that plays music on his toy piano. We hear those same four songs over, and over, and over, and over.....

new toy 009Peek-a-boo is always a pleaser. Lately we've been crawling around and playing it between rooms. Jack loves opening and closing doors, which he has discovered is another way to play peek-a-boo. My dad always says, "Where's Jack?" to him and so we've added this element to the game. I love his hysterical giggle and wide open smile as we play.
