UPC Day Camp: Under Construction

Last week was day camp at church. This year's theme was Under Construction, which couldn't have been any more perfect for a little guy who loves diggers, tractors, and tools! Technically camp isn't for little ones as young as Jack, but I was a camp volunteer, so Jack got to go to camp like all of the older kids. Our day began bright and early, with us having to be at the church at 8:30. It didn't end until 1:00, so it was a long day for Jack. I was in charge of the middle school kids who helped out in the classrooms at camp, so Jack had a blast playing with them before heading to his classroom. Even though Jack's class was mostly just playtime, he did have snack, music time, and gym time every day. He wasn't sure about it the first couple of days, but by Wednesday when I asked him if he wanted to go to his class he belted, "yeah" and ran down the hallway towards his room.

One of the other volunteers had a little girl going into kindergarten. She loved playing with Jack each day before and after camp. Jack had such a blast each day, he literally fell asleep the moment I put him into his car seat to go home!

Spokane for Jill and John's Engagement Party

Oh my, it has been an embarrassingly long time since I have updated our blog. I don't know where June has disappeared to, but I do know that our days have been busy ones!

Two weekends ago we drove to Spokane for the weekend to help celebrate Tom's cousin, Jill, and her fiance John's engagement. The party was Saturday night on the campus of St. George's, a private K-12 school. The party was held in an absolutely stunning old home that sits high on the property and overlooks the campus. We had so much fun seeing and catching up with all of Tom's relatives. Jack was thrilled because Great Auntie Kathy opened up her kindergarten classroom and let Jack play with the Tonka trucks. He couldn't have been happier!

Earlier in the day, before the party, we hung out at Riverfront park in downtown Spokane. I hadn't been there since I was a little girl, so it was fun to experience it again with Jack. Hands down the hit of the park was the giant fountain. Jack played for hours in it. There also was a giant red wagon that Jack and Dad had fun sliding down--too cool!

Fun at the Fountain

The past couple of beautiful weeks and weekends have allowed us to spend some serious time at our new favorite water park, the fountains in Ballard. I'm not sure what the actual park is called, but it has some great little fountains that are perfectly sized for Jack. We've been there several times with our friends, Maggie and Keri, and also took Dad there once. Here are some pics of Jack playing there.

Boy, Oh Boy!

                                                              its a boy

                                                                   yes, that IS my belly!

I guess the title pretty much says it all; we're expecting another boy!  We had our ultrasound last Thursday and it didn't take long for the technician to point out that the little peanut was a boy. Since the boys will be about 22 months apart, it will be so much fun for them to be the same gender. Of course they'll be the best of friends, which means we can simply cross any kind of fighting off the list. Right?!! I know, I know, wishful thinking....
