A few days ago Jack was watching an episode of Caillou. In the episode, Caillou made finger puppets. Jack
decided that he, too, would like to make “finger nuppets”. So we got out the paper, scissors, tape, and markers and created some. Jack had fun directing me to make ears and noses and mouths etc. on his finger puppets. Then we got out the barn and housed them in it, along with various trucks and cars. What fun!

I Just Wanna Dance!
It was a lovely ceremony on a beautiful day. The dinner was fantastic at the Harbor Club. The speeches thoughtful and emotional. The cake was cut. All that was left to do was dance.
Throughout the night we’d been showing Jack where the band was going to play. And he was getting excited. When it came time for Tom and Jane to dance their first dance, Jack was beside himself with excitement. Literally. I had to remove him three times from the dance floor because Jane and Tom were still dancing their first dance. He was sobbing uncontrollably and desperate to dance. As we were making our way back to the room with the band, a kind gentleman leaned over to me and said, “the dance floor is open now”.
It was music to Jack’s ears. I brought him into the room, set him down on the dance floor and let him dance. And boy did he ever dance. For 2 1/2 hours straight, the boy danced. I kid you not, the only time he stopped was when he walked up to me with flushed cheeks and said, “water bottle”. Poor guy was parched, he’d been dancing so hard! He danced with the flower girl, Jane, Tom, and pretty much anyone who would boogie with him. Surprisingly, he isn’t half bad. He has fairly good rhythm (no idea who he got that from) and some great moves.
Jack became a fixture on the dance floor. He danced until 11:00 at night. Once he stopped, he hit a wall. When we left the reception, Jack was the one riding in the stroller. It’s tough being a dancin’ machine.
A Few Wedding Pics
Usually I am camera crazy and have tons of pictures, but with the entire family in the wedding, I only was able to take a few. Here are some of the moments I managed to capture before the big event.
Emmett was able to wear the same suit that Jack wore when my brother got married two years ago. They are nearly the same age. Don’t they look like brothers?
The lovely bride, groom, and parents. Emmett smiles with Grandma for a picture.
Jane with Becky and Aunt Margie. Tom with some of the beautiful bridesmaids.
Emmett is in good hands both during the ceremony and after, thanks to Matt, Joanna, and my parents.
The Ring Bearer
He’s been talking about it for months—taking the rings down the aisle to give to Uncle Tom. We’d practiced many times, both at the rehearsal and whenever we were at the church. Jack was ready. Ready to wear his handsome suit. Ready to walk down the aisle. Ready to hold the adorable flower girl’s hand. The day had finally arrived and it was time for Jack to be the ring bearer. He couldn’t have looked any more adorable in his little black tuxedo with the tiny bowtie, shorts, and black knee high socks. He looked like he had stepped back in time to the days when little boys wore suits much like this.
There was a moment of hesitation as we waited at the back of the church to walk down the aisle. Jack looked at me, literally trembling with fear, and said, “I don’t want to do it.” I reminded him how we’d practiced, that both Daddy and I would be standing at the front of the church smiling at him, and that he got to hold Addison’s hand. The moment arrived and with the organ blasting away music, Jack held the pillow and walked all the way down the aisle. He even smiled! I was so proud of him.
So did I get any pictures of him, you ask? No. But I have good reason. Both Tom and I were in the wedding, so we were unable to snap shots. The only shots I was able to get were before the wedding when Jack and Addison were mesmerized by Super Why playing on the IPod. I’m confident that the photographer got some great shots. As soon as she gets them to Jane, I’ll post them.
Rehearsal Dinner
Has it already been a week since Jane and Tom’s wedding? I suppose it has, and it is high time I got some pictures posted! I’ll start with the rehearsal dinner.
Thursday night. Ray’s Boathouse. Fabulous food, and a great beginning to the weekend’s festivities. We did manage to get one picture of the four of us, although Jack was not happy that we interrupted his playing with the new car’s Grandma got for him. Thus, we have an almost perfect picture. Such is life.
Jack kept himself completely occupied playing with his new toy cars and his new friend, Ezra. Ezra is Tom Moody’s nephew. (I felt the need to clarify which Tom. Yes, it does all get a bit confusing when there are two Tom’s in the family!) Ezra is slightly younger than Jack, but the two of them raced those little cars all over the place. It was great because it meant that we got a little time to be social!
Emmett was his usual happy self and was perfectly content to be held, facing outward, of course, and watch all that was happening around him.
The two monkeys, as we began to call them, found that swinging on the railing was pretty fun. They began doing this at the end of the evening when both were deliriously tired. I included the picture at the window in an attempt to show Jack’s hair. At his request, he wore it “bikey”, which is Jack language for spiky.

The Aquarium
Last Wednesday, my mom came down to spend the day with us. We decided to venture to the Aquarium.
We sat immediately down to watch the diver give her presentation. Even Emmett was enthralled.
Next we checked out the touch tanks. Jack and Nana spent a lot of time here. Jack is now obsessed with touching the starfish. He’s not as sure about the sea anemones, and would rather let Nana touch them.
Emmett Otter got his picture taken next to the otter. Jack plays with the felt sea life.
A quick stop for “nak naks” before heading out exploring again.
The boys LOVED the fish dome and spent tons of time looking at the fish swimming by them.
Jack with the otter. Our “otter” looks at the fish.
Thanks, Nana, for sharing a fun day at the Aquarium with us!

Bath Buddies
Feed Me!
Emmett has taken to solids with a vengeance. The little guy is pretty much willing to eat anything. Some of his latest conquests include: clam chowder, broccoli, spaghetti sauce, refried beans, mashed potatoes, and even a little bacon! Funny thing is, he gets angry when we try to give him “baby” food. About the only baby food he’ll tolerate is mashed bananas. Although he seems to have a mature palate, he needs to work a bit on his technique. A good portion of his food ends up on him, which means that Emmett has begun getting nightly baths. Jack loves to have a bath buddy, of course!
