When Jack spent the weekend with my parents, they got him a pair of rain boots to wear outside. They are the cutest little pair of cow boots, complete with tail on the back of them! Jack absolutely adores them. Only problem, they are about two sizes too big for him! I've been keeping them downstairs with the other boots and each day when Jack and I go downstairs to feed Monty, he immediately goes for his boots and demands that I put them on him. I do and then he proceeds to do the most funny looking "walk" in them since they are so big. Grandma had a good idea, though, put some bunched up socks in the front of them so they aren't so big. I did that and it seems to work pretty well. The following are some pictures of Jack modeling his favorite boots. He also is making his "moo" face in a couple of them!

Weekend Away--Jack and His Grandparents Play, Play, Play!
This past weekend, Tom and I went to Whistler with my brother and his wife. Jack stayed with my parents in MV. We had a great day of skiing on Saturday. It was one of the few times that I can remember skiing at Whistler where it wasn't super windy and cold. In fact, it was just about perfect conditions--a little bit of new snow, clear skies, and no lift lines! We got to experience the new Peak to Peak gondola, which connects Whistler and Blackcomb. It is pretty incredible, especially when you realize how far up you are!
Meanwhile, back in Mount Vernon, Jack was having his own adventures with Grandma and Grandpa. Jack LOVES tractors, trucks, and pretty much any kind of big machinery. So what would be a better outing when you are in MV, than to visit the John Deere dealership! Jack got to sit on some of the tractors, and spent most of the time saying "ooh" to all of the cool machinery. He also went to Starbucks with G & G, of course!
During the past week Jack has been waking up pretty early. I mean 5:00 early. I hoped that he might not do this at Grandma and Grandpa's house, but such was not the case. He was up both mornings by 5:30. I don't blame him, though, he got to climb into bed with Grandma and Grandpa and jump on the bed!
Jack also spent a good portion of the weekend riding on Grandma and Grandpa's very own John Deere tractor (it is actually the lawnmower, but Jack didn't care!). He loved being driven around the yard on it and apparently started crying when they had to get off. When we got back from Whistler, Uncle Matt took Jack for a spin and Jack even helped him drive!
Among other things, Jack went on walks, threw rocks, rough housed, and pretty much wore Grandma and Grandpa out! And they loved every minute of it! Thanks for a great weekend, Grandma and Grandpa!
Mommy's Little Helper
With a dog and a little boy who love to be outside, our house's cleanliness takes a toll. I've taken to vacuuming a couple times a week to try and combat the continual mess that seems to make its way into our house. Jack has become pretty accustomed to the vacuum cleaner and enjoys following it around as I vacuum. On Friday, however, he decided it was time to stop being a spectator and become a helper. He actually did a pretty good job of holding onto the handle. It was so cute to watch him imitate me as he "vacuumed". Who knows, maybe I'll have him trained and vacuuming the house for me by age 2!
