Coeur d’Alene

Although our family vacation was two weeks ago, I am just now getting around to posting pictures. BUT, I have good reason—our camera deleted a good portion of our pictures from vacation, so I have had to gather pictures from my parents. We had a fantastic time, as you’ll see from the pictures. I’ll let the pictures tell the story of our time in Coeur d’Alene…

We spent a lot of time at the public beach in town building sand castles.

Well, Jack built castles. Emmett mostly destroyed them and managed to get sand all over himself!

On our way home from the beach one day, the fire department by our cabin was having an open house and the boys got to check out all of the fire equipment.

We even found a spray park for the boys to play in!

Jack and Tom took the kayak out for a spin in the bay. Jack even helped paddle.

But the bulk of our days were spent out on the water in the boat. Both Jack and Emmett enjoyed swimming off the boat.

Jack loved “pushing” Boppa into the water and floating on the noodle.

The boys also spent lots of time at the little beach in front of our cabin. Both boys loved playing with the old Tonka trucks that were my dad and uncle’s growing up.

The boys loved spending time with their Uncle Matt.

No vacation is complete without ice cream. Jack attacks his Oreo cookie ice cream with vigor, while Emmett enjoys huckleberry.

Great week. We LOVE our family!

Camp Rodda

camp rodda6 A couple of weeks ago Jack got to go to his very own “camp” at his grandma and grandpa’s house. For three days Jack played at the beach, made crafts, and ate special treats. He played hard, and had so much fun, at Camp Rodda!

Buzz Cut

buzz cut 1 buzz cut

It’s been a little over a month since Jack had his last haircut, so we’ve been talking a bit about getting another one. Yesterday when Jack woke up from his nap he said, “let’s go give me a buzz cut like Daddy’s.” I asked him if he was sure because it meant that we’d have to use the clippers—a sound that has frightened him. He said that he wanted to do it, and have a smoothie popsicle, of course. He helped set up his chair outside and he sat there while I buzzed his head. He was so excited when he looked in the mirror and saw that his hair looked like Daddy’s.

All Aboard!

august 016 We took a train ride with Nana B last Friday on the new Light Rail. We boarded in the International District and rode the train all the way to the airport and back. Both Jack and Emmett loved looking out the window. Jack especially liked it when the train went “really fast”.  At only $5 for a round trip ticket (kids are free), this may be an adventure we do more often!

Jack waits for the train to come out of the tunnel so that he can ride it.

Watching all the cars go by and having a few nak naks, of course!

Emmett likes to watch out the window, too.

Jack shows his ticket, just like in the Polar Express. Final destination—the airport!

Look At Me!

august 001

Last week I heard some babbling coming from Emmett’s room during his morning nap. I went in to check on him and discovered him standing up holding on to the side of his crib. He was as proud as proud can be.  Only problem, he isn’t so good at getting himself back down…
