Bliss! Matt and Joanna's Wedding 7.26.08

It is now official. On July 26, 2008 at 4:45pm, by brother married the woman of his dreams, Joanna Plichta. The ceremony was held in the chapel at Villa Academy. The ceremony was followed by a gorgeous reception at Newcastle.  But, I'm getting ahead of myself. The day started much earlier than that, and I've got the pictures to document all that happened that day as they prepared to stand in that chapel and commit their lives to one another.

As a bridesmaid, I had the privilege of getting ready with Joanna in the bridal suite at Newcastle. We all helped one another primp and perfect our hair and makeup, so that we would look our best for pictures. Joanna looked absolutely stunning in her gown. We kept calling her Barbie all day long!

After she and my brother saw each other for the first time, it was time for pictures, pictures, and more pictures!

Jack looked pretty dapper in his suit. The jacket only lasted for pictures, but he wore the pants, shirt, tie, and vest the entire evening. Honestly, nothing phases the little guy!

Here are some pictures of the evening. It was such a fun evening, we'll have to do it again!  And we will in Poland two weeks from now! (Sidenote: Matt and Joanna are having another reception in Poland on August 15th. Our family is traveling there to celebrate with them and all of their family and friends who live there.)

 

Matt and Joanna's wedding was amazing. It was a beautiful event for two beautiful people. May they always work hard at their marriage so that they will always be as happy as they were on that day. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Boisen!

A Perfect Beginning: The Rehearsal Dinner at The Lakeside

Well, the weekend that Matt and Joanna have been planning and preparing for finally arrived. The festivities began with the rehearsal at the church followed by the rehearsal dinner at the Lakeside on the north end of Lake Union. It was a fabulous beginning to an unforgettable weekend. My parents hosted a lovely dinner, complete with key lime martinis (very tasty!).  It was a chance for both family and friends to mingle and get to know one another before the big day. Matt and Joanna were glowing from the moment the rehearsal began and they continued to sparkle the entire evening.

 

Jack was dressed for the occasion in his shorts and seersucker shirt. His boat shoes (without socks, just like his daddy) completed the look. He was such a trooper and managed to make it the entire evening without falling asleep!  I'll admit, he was deliriously tired by the end of the night, but I couldn't believe that he lasted as long as he did.

 

The venue was filled with mirrors which kept Jack entertained throughout the evening. He laughed, jumped and smiled at that cute baby in the mirror all night long!

The night was a perfect beginning to a beautiful weekend!

 

Playing with Grandma

  Yesterday Jack was treated to a couple of hours with Grandma Becky while I got my hair done. Jack has had some separation issues when I have left him with others in the past, so I wasn't sure how he would do. They had a great time...and no tears!  They played and played and played!  In fact, Jack played so hard that he fell asleep on my shoulder later that evening. That NEVER happens anymore!

Can you believe that Jack is already 7 months old?! Yes, I am a little late in posting these, as Jack turned 7 months on the 16th of July. I've been taking monthly pictures of Jack sitting in the chair in his room since he was born. These are some pictures of Jack's latest photo shoot.

   

   

Jack loves Monty!  Every time Monty is in the room, Jack watches his every move. His favorite thing is when Monty licks the bottoms of his feet. Jack squeals with delight!

   

Who Is That Bearded Man?

On Saturday Tom's long time friend, Erik, came to visit us and meet Jack for the first time. Erik and his wife Shannon are currently living in London. They are in the process of moving to Dubai where Erik has accepted a job.

Once again, Jack couldn't stop staring at Erik's facial hair. When Erik held him, Jack immediately reached out to his face to feel his beard.  He is fascinated by the feel of beards!

We had a great time catching up with Erik and wish he and Shannon all the best in their newest adventure.
