It was a lovely ceremony on a beautiful day. The dinner was fantastic at the Harbor Club. The speeches thoughtful and emotional. The cake was cut. All that was left to do was dance.
Throughout the night we’d been showing Jack where the band was going to play. And he was getting excited. When it came time for Tom and Jane to dance their first dance, Jack was beside himself with excitement. Literally. I had to remove him three times from the dance floor because Jane and Tom were still dancing their first dance. He was sobbing uncontrollably and desperate to dance. As we were making our way back to the room with the band, a kind gentleman leaned over to me and said, “the dance floor is open now”.
It was music to Jack’s ears. I brought him into the room, set him down on the dance floor and let him dance. And boy did he ever dance. For 2 1/2 hours straight, the boy danced. I kid you not, the only time he stopped was when he walked up to me with flushed cheeks and said, “water bottle”. Poor guy was parched, he’d been dancing so hard! He danced with the flower girl, Jane, Tom, and pretty much anyone who would boogie with him. Surprisingly, he isn’t half bad. He has fairly good rhythm (no idea who he got that from) and some great moves.
Jack became a fixture on the dance floor. He danced until 11:00 at night. Once he stopped, he hit a wall. When we left the reception, Jack was the one riding in the stroller. It’s tough being a dancin’ machine.
