The Big Catch

For Easter, Jack received a fishing pole. For the past week, I’ve narrowly missed being hit in the head by a rubber fish many times as Jack practiced casting in our house.  Having nearly perfected his cast, it was time to put it to the test and try to catch some fish.

P1000465Tom found a great trout farm online  just outside of Renton. Jack packed his tackle box and pole and we hit the road. The playground and fort were the first thing Jack saw when we got there. Fishing quickly took a back seat to playing.

After we’d exhausted the playground, we headed down to the ponds. The fish were divided into 3 ponds: small, medium, and large fish. The large fish were big (like 15 or more inches!) so we started at the small pond.

P1000453Jack and Tom loaded up the hook with bait and cast it in. The first couple of attempts didn’t yield success, but Jack had fun reeling in the hook. But the great thing about fishing at a farm, is that there are lots of fish and they are just ready to bite your hook. It wasn’t long before Jack and Tom were reeling in Jack’s first fish.

The proud fisherman shows off his catch!

Emmett, too, wanted in on the action. His attention span was short, and he was more interested in touching the fish in the bucket, than catching one.

We left the fishing hole with two fish, which the boys later ate for dinner. We will definitely be heading back to this place!
