Christmas Time is Here

The lights are up, the tree is trimmed, and the decorations are out—Christmas time is here! We’ve been taking full advantage of the holiday festivities in the past week. Here is a look at what we’ve been up to:

Decorating the Christmas tree:

We found a great Christmas tree lot not far from our home and went there in pursuit of the perfect tree. We spent nearly 20 minutes looking for it, before returning to the first tree that we had found. Once home, the boys helped us trim the tree. For every ornament that Jack or I put up, Emmett took one down!

Riding the Monorail:

As you probably already know, Jack loves trains. Every time we drive anywhere near Seattle Center, Jack always is fascinated by the monorail. Last week, I decided to take a little field trip and ride it. We parked by the Center and caught it there.

Both boys were amazed at the train and its speed. And for toddlers, the monorail is the perfect train ride—it takes less than five minutes! We arrived at Westlake and admired the lit Christmas tree. It didn’t take the boys long to notice the carousel. We headed there immediately.

Both boys rode a horse. Jack loved it. Emmett was a mixture of sheer joy and terror. After the carousel, we went to the food court at Westlake and ate a picnic lunch that I had packed. Once done, we jumped back on the monorail where the boys got to sit right next to the conductor!

Snowflake Lane:

I had no idea this even existed until last year Tom’s parent’s invited us to go see it. It truly is remarkable and even if you don’t have little ones, you can’t help but dance around and sing with everyone! Jack was no exception, he was dancing and singing from the moment the music began. Please excuse my pictures, they aren’t the best since it was at night, but hopefully you’ll get an idea of the night.

And here is Jack rockin’ out to the music:

Gingerbread Train:

Jack also got to have a special trip to Grandma and Grandpa’s house to make a gingerbread train. As you can see from the pictures, Jack had just as much fun tasting the candies, as he did making the train!
