We did it. We finally went camping with the boys. It was awesome. And hot. Really hot. We got the very last campsite available, and in hindsight I can see why it hadn’t been taken. There was no shade. zero. Normally, shade wouldn’t have mattered, but we happened to pick the hottest weekend of the summer. Yes, it was only in the 90’s, but for us it was scorchin’.
Thankfully there was a river right by the campground where we spent the better portion of the day.
When it came time to cook dinner at our campsite, we had to park the car so that it created some shade for us.
And that shade made it just a little more bearable to have a campfire to cook on.
The boys didn’t care. They found shade by the tent to eat their mac-n-cheese.
When the sun finally set, it was cool enough to play a new card game with the boys, WAR.
And to roast some marshmallows.
We even managed to take a pretty good family shot with the self timer. And on the first try!
